SUCCESS STORIES from our local Deaf Community!
Sarah Craig was referred to WHOLE ME, Inc. last year through ACCESS-VR. Her goal was to obtain the skills necessary to secure a career in the pharmaceutical field. Sarah worked with WHOLE ME’s Transition Coordinator Michael Ruf to enroll in an 810-hour Pharmacy Technician Program at the OCM BOCES Career Training Center. Although Sarah was a bit nervous returning to school after all these years…she did a fantastic job, scoring 96% on her final exam and successfully completing a 6-week internship at TOPS in Baldwinsville! Sarah now has the tools necessary to realize her dream and is in process of applying for employment at local pharmacies!!!
Great Job Sarah!
Wa Do Too came to America with his family in 2008 from Burma. When he arrived in this country he had no knowledge of English or American Sign Language (ASL). Over the years Wa has worked with WHOLE ME, Inc. to learn ASL, obtain employment and study for the US Citizenship test. WHOLE ME is proud to say that Wa is doing a wonderful job learning both English and ASL and he has recently accomplished two additional major goals! With the help of Michael Ruf, WHOLE ME’s Transition Coordinator Wa has secured employment and also passed his citizenship test! Wa will officially become a US Citizen on March 19th when he will be sworn in at the Onondaga County Courthouse! When asked what is the best part of being a US Citizen Wa said he is very excited about voting in the next election!

WHOLE ME’s Deaf Staff Lead the Way!
Please join WHOLE ME, Inc. in welcoming Lindsay Ryan Anthony and Grace Cogan as Co-Directors of WMI’s Youth Programs! WHOLE ME, Inc. is very fortunate to have strong Deaf role-models to lead our Youth Programs. Both Lindsay and Grace grew up in Syracuse and are very familiar the needs of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing youth in our community.
Lindsay and Grace also work with a staff of Deaf teaching assistants, volunteers and college interns majoring in Deaf Studies and American Sign Language Interpreting.
As a respected member of the Deaf Community Grace said “We have been given an incredible opportunity to not only enrich the lives of these students but to empower them so that the world is theirs for the taking.”
Sydney grew up in Syracuse and graduated from the OCM BOCES for the Deaf. He is an extremely dedicated hard-worker who is helping us to organize our files in order to become a little more “green”!
